Overcrowded prisons...

Good news! The prisons here have become so crowded that our governor and legislative body have introduced new laws (hoped to be passed) that would entitle us to earn extra good time.
So anyone serving 50% of their sentence (like me) can essentially cut their sentence to 35%. We can earn good time for school and work/good conduct and since I have displayed all of the above I would be entitled to the full amount of good time (15%). So off a 40 year sentence all I would have to serve is 14 years and I am well over that amount.
If the bill passes, it will become effective in January of 2008 and I will be released.
EVERYONE: keep fingers crossed!!!

I read through your story and it sound extremely tragic. Have you or your family tired getting another attorney? I'm not sure how much you can you can do from inside prison but maybe this website will help you out.

http://www.onlinelawyersource.com/news/ca-wrongful-convictions.html

It's an article about California law but at the bottom of the page is a link to attorneys who deal with wrongful conviction.

Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I am the one helping (or trying to at least) Charles. He is in the process of contacting another lawyer but of course it's hard. Especially from within prison.

I'll look into the link and thanks for taking an interest!

Hey, Chuck.

Do you post here often? Do you have access to email? If so, you should email me. You have always been heavy in my thoughts.

Hi Cobey! I'm Leahsandra, and Armande introduced me (via mail) to Charles. When either of us get mail from him, Armande posts passages of it here and she also prints off any emails and comments and sends them to him. I'm sure he'll be thrilled to see it!
